The Herman Miller Mirra 2 is the chair Berlin's Studio 7.5 designed for people who do not sit in one position for long. Its defining feature is the Butterfly Suspension back, and it exists to solve a real trade-off. A pure mesh back breathes and flexes but gives you almost no shaping. A moulded polymer back holds a shape but is dead and warm against your spine. The Butterfly back does both at once: a flexing polymer layer supplies the structure and the zoned support, and a fabric layer over it distributes pressure and keeps it breathable.

Behind that sits the Loop Spine, which attaches to the chair at only two points and is otherwise free to twist, so the back follows you when you turn to a second monitor instead of resisting. The Harmonic 2 tilt is built around the body's natural pivot points, so recline feels balanced rather than like being tipped. The Mirra 2 suits people who move between focused work, calls and collaboration all day, who run warm and want a back that breathes, and who want an adjustable chair rather than an automatic one. It is not the right chair if you want a headrest — Herman Miller does not make one for the Mirra 2 — or if you specifically want the give of an all-mesh back, because the polymer layer is more structured and firmer than mesh. Studio 7.5 redesigned the original 2003 Mirra, and the result is about 30% lighter than the chair it replaced.
